Patriarchy, matriarchy…

Society is made up of two genders. Both of them equally affect and make up society. This is why both genders have issues and oppression.

But blaming “the patriarchy” for all of society’s issues is [nonsense]. We have women in politics. We have men in politics. We have women who act as the head of their household. We have men who act as the head of their household. Both genders influence society.

Blaming one gender for society’s problems doesn’t fix anything. Neither does saying only one gender has problems.

People have problems, and we should fix them regardless of gender.

Men in power (in democracies)

• Did not get appointed to this station by the evil brotherhood of men.
• Were voted in legitimately by the electorate, at least half of which are women.
• Are therefore every bit as much a result of female sexism as male sexism.
• “Men should lead” is just another gender role, us expecting men to behave in the way the gender binary says they should. It’s men’s purpose to lead, to fight, to work, just as much as it’s women’s purpose to bear and raise children.
• Men have suffered from these expectations as much as women have. Being forced into either role isn’t fun.
• Men in power aren’t therefore the sole result of male misogyny, but the combined consequence of men and women enforcing the gender binary.
• If we had to vote for people to do stereotypically “women’s work”, and only elected women, that would just be us all enforcing the binary.
• Having to vote for people to do stereotypically “men’s work”, and only elected men, is just be us all enforcing the binary.
• The evil brotherhood does not exist.

Incidentally, women are the largest voting bloc in America, and were heavily responsible for electing Obama. Twice.

I detest the ignorant notion that the foreskin is a birth defect, and it’s inherently unsanitary.

Someone TOLD you that, they did not TEACH you that. Teaching implies that it was factual information.

I know I go on the occasional rant about it here, and I don’t even have a penis, but I cannot stand the misinformation.

An uncircumcised penis is no more complicated to clean than a vagina.

A foreskin is not some random piece of skin, it’s part of the penis. Actually PART of it. It’s not extra skin, it’s not WITH the penis, it is penile skin.

I feel like people might understand this better if it were explained to them in graphic terms.

Bascially

when the doc performs a circ, they pretty much have to

a) rip back the foreskin off of the head of the penis—usually with some sort of clamping device—since it doesn’t actually retract until around puberty. The foreskin is very completely attached to the penis. Which totally destroys that whole “I have it done so that he can be clean” argument because nothing. can. get. in. there. 

and

b) cut off a part of someone’s highly sensitive anatomy (note: “anatomy” not “birth defect”) without their consent and, not to mention, a complete disregard for their well-being. Have you ever heard a baby while they’re having that done? They sound like they’re having their fingernails ripped off. Except it’s their foreskin.

and finally

c) stick that fresh, open wound that takes weeks (probably around 4-6 weeks) to heal, in that fucking lovely enviroment called “The Diaper” with pee and poop. Ahh. So fresh and so clean clean. 

Now, I don’t have a penis. But I am a Health Science/Health Education major, so I do recognize archaic, savage practices when I see it. So let’s at least attempt to exercise a little restraint, hell, maybe even do a little research *before* you decide to maim your kid.
