If a product is marketed towards women, well that’s offensive to women.

But if a product is marketed towards men, well that’s also offensive to women.

Not a damned thing, as far as I can tell.

I would like to know why there is a gas tank on top of the ironing board.

You don’t fill your iron with gasoline? Gives your clothes that nice hydrocarbon scent.

The original Freedom Tray infomercial (by FreedomTray)

I honestly think this is a good idea, but still find it ridiculous because of the fact their advertising hook is ‘MURICA.

I did everyone a favor and removed the white guy from this photoset because white people do not experience racial oppression and thus have no place in this campaign.

All Credit goes to the Ohio University STARS (Students Teaching About Racism in Society) group.

Southerners, Appalachians, etc. can’t face a specific definition of “oppression” therefore its okay to dress up like them and mock their culture

Pants on head r******, thy name is OP.

I like how they think they’re know more about the goals of the campaign than the actual people who made the campaign.

my post was a critique of the campaign. but you and your friends are sure a bunch of ableist, ignorant assholes. good job.

An entirely invalid critique, yes. Southern people are subject to stereotypes. The campaign isn’t about ethnicity, but cultures being parodied for halloween. It literally says so. You were wrong.

I note that you’ve resorted to ye olde social justice technique of insisting everyone else misunderstood you, backpedalling, and insulting them, without actually defending yourself logically. At least you didn’t post a GIF.

Incidentally, I’m a black guy. By Social Justice Logic, that means I’m automatically right. It is odd how you respond to “a critique” of your critique of the campaign in such a defensive manner.

I like how you try to win brownie points by bringing ableism into this because someone used “retarded”, all the while desperately missing the actual point. I don’t support the use of the word as a pejorative, generally censor out things like that when I quote other people (as I did in the post in question), and happened to forget. Ironically, you’re using the “Tone Argument” to avoid the actual point; your arrogance and misinterpretation of the campaign.

Also, white guys do experience racism and bigotry. I’ve seen a guy who was told that it was his fault for being in the presence of black people calling him “white boy” in a pejorative manner. Another white guy told of an occasion where he was told, to his face, that the interviewer would like to hire him, but couldn’t because he was white and male. Quotas. I’ve personally been mocked for “sounding white” and going to a “white school”. There was a Fresh Prince episode about Carlton acting “too white”. Not to mention Mormons, Amish, the Irish, Italians, etc.

Tl:dr; you aren’t just wrong, you are fractally wrong.

Let me get this straight;

  • Commercial: [Man hits on a woman and says he wants to sleep with her.]
  • Tumblr Feminist: The man is objectifying her.
  • Commercial: [Woman hits on a man and says she wants to sleep with him.]
  • Tumblr Feminist: The commercial is objectifying her.
  • (I'm not making this up. This is a thing that happened.)

FIAT 500 Abarth [Super Bowl XLVI Commercial 2012] 1080p HD

When this commercial was released, it was decried by some quarters for objectifying women.

Which is strange, because he’s objectifying a car.

Which is an object.
