just-smith: Crying Sherlock

The real reason Sherlock Holmes had to fake his death.
Sherlock’s Privileges: White, well off, nice house, good looking, beats women off with a stick, lives in the first world, male, those cheekbones.

Oh crap, I think I got a bit confused, didn’t I? ;)
So, Watson from “Elementary” with Granada Holmes and BBC Sherlock props (I’m not sure if London cab can be called a prop, though).
Why? Because why the hell not?!
A close up attached, because you won’t probably be able to see them properly at the top picture (Tumblr resizes huge ass photos).
P.S. Rest in peace, dear Mr Brett.

Right, I watched Elementary today with mah homie, Yellowscarvesmember, and after going through pages and pages of Tumblove, I had to voice my own opinion.
I’d like to start by saying that sometimes, Moffat’s writing confuses me more than Jonny Lee Miller’s chest hair. But you know what? I like being challenged. I like being wowed by the attention to detail.
What I do NOT like is having to spend an hour watching a glorified CSI New York.
I don’t recall any labs with dramatic lighting, or a single lab coat or chemistry set. In fact, I missed Gary Sinise entirely. In fact, the show seemed to be almost entirely character-driven. It’s not like Sherlock in Sherlock has been shown prominently fiddling with chemistry and forensics OH WAIT.
Elementary has no depth. No chemistry. No subtlety. A modernized Sherlock Holmes, my hat. You do not simply take iconic names and plaster them onto some crime show about a repulsive man who lives in a dirty apartment with a beautiful woman.
Because she’s being paid to. I also think you’re premature to judge based on the pilot alone.
SPOILERS FOLLOW, FOLKS
On Set With Elementary JLM & Lucy walking everywhere..
Okay, I’m a dude, so can someone tell me whether it’s really practical to be a pedestrian in New York with those heels? Because I tried walking less than a mile to school in my dress shoes, and they were hurting by a few hundred metres on.
Apparently, making jokes about how Sherlock and John’s relationship can easily and reasonably be seen as homosexual is homophobic or something. Oh, and since John and Sherlock act “exactly like” spouses, they should just be spouses. Of course, there’s the minor fact that John has explicitly denied being gay or involved with Sherlock, and has had multiple straight relationships over the course of the series, and no known gay relationships, and the creator of the show has gone “no, seriously, they’re not gay”. But those are just details to the dedicated slasher.
They also asserted that making Watson a woman in Elementary is “whitewashing” because it eliminates the chance for sexy gay funtimes. I’m not sure in which dictionary turning a white male character into a female Asian one is whitewashing. Maybe they could explain it to me, in words that people regularly use in conversational English, and not social justice blogs.
sometimes I [gently caressing] hate whovians.
something is announced in a [gently caressing] gossip column and holy [poop], moffat is the devil and is only writing a lesbian inter-species romance because he likes to objectify women for the pleasure of his own [richard].
WAKE UP.
WE DON’T EVEN KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE.
AND REMEMBER GUYS? YOU ALL ASKED FOR THIS. AFTER AGMGTW. AND MADAME VASTRA’S GIRLFRIEND JENNY IS HUMAN SO SHE CAN’T BE AROUND FOREVER.
YOU GUYS ASKED FOR THIS.
BUT OFC IT’S OKAY WHEN IT’S A MAN, RIGHT? BECAUSE JACK CAN FLIRT WITH ANYTHING WITH A PULSE AND LOL THAT’S JUST FUNNY AND ENDEARING EVEN IF IT’S INTER-SPECIES BUT THE MOMENT THERE’S LESBIANS IT’S FETISHIZING.
like, heaven forbid if the new companion is into girls. because obviously that means Moffat is sexualizing her.

make. up. your. minds.
I made a similar point about Sherlock’s Irene Adler and Jack after “A Scandal in Bohemia”. Male bisexual? The fandom wets itself with joy. Female? The creator is accused of objectification. And no, it doesn’t matter that they’re both men, because Davies, who created Jack, is gay. And fandom has no problem objectifying people and characters themselves (which is what slashfic is basically about), they just don’t want the show to do it. To women. Men are fine.
But hey, fandom, just keep assuming that straight men, and only straight men, are ruled by their dingalings, and portrayal of a lesbian relationship has to be sexual in nature. That’s not stereotypical at all.
Welcome to Tumblr.
Holy shit this is the most accurate post I have ever seen in my life
I was literally scrolling down thinking “hey, you forgot Sher-oh.”

Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes announced in March 2007.
BBC’s Sherlock announced in August 2008.
Elementary announced in late 2011, and is promptly decried as a ripoff by fans of the BBC’s Sherlock.
GLASS HOUSES.

“I will burn the heart right out of you.” - J. Moriarty, Sherlock
Amon is really Moriarty. Clearly after the end of the second Sherlock Holmes movie, he wound up in the wrong universe, and took advantage of an opportunity. His scientific investigation allowed him to figure out how to block bending permanently. The Equalists’ fighting style is based on some Chinese acrobats he saw once. The guy on the posters in the mask is just a cat’s paw.
